Today is Sunday, February 28th, 2010 and I wanted to make a list of all the books that I have read so far in the New Year 2010. This to my surprise it has been about 15 books already. I am astonished to see that I have read ferociously for about two months.
January- February 2010
So the Books are as follows (In the order in which I read them): I will also provide a short synopsis on each book.
1. L.A. Candy by Lauren Conrad
- Best Friends Move to Long Angeles, CA. Both of them have different motives in to why they want to move to L.A. Jane moves to LA because she had gotten an internship with Fiona Chen one of the top event planners in LA. Scarlett moves to attend the USC. Both of their lives change when they meet a reality TV producer of L.A. Candy. Both Jane and Scarlett will need to be wise on which cast member they should trust.
2. City Chic: The Modern Girl’s Guide to Living Large on Less by Nina Willdorf
- This book taught me how to keep up my SHOPOHOLIC self in tune. Believe it or not I learned a few tricks on how to Bargain shop. I have always been a Bargain shopper. I like labels and non-labels. Whatever it is I have to be have the best deal on anything I buy. It’s my rule of thumb for shopping. Of course I have exceptions on like perfumes and face products. It is also a good resource book when you are living on a budget or a big expensive city like New York City. This is a must read especially if you are looking into moving out from your parents place to your first new apartment.
3. The Twilight Saga By Stephanie Meyer
1. Twilight
2. New Moon
3. Eclipse
4. Braking Dawn
- The Twilight Saga as everyone may know is about Edward Cullen, the vampire, and Bella Swan the human. They fall in love and in the course of the four books they as long as their friends, families and the wolves, Jacob, overcome various obstacles. In fact, these books were able to educate readers of the importance of love and loyalty. This book can be called an emotional rollercoaster. It is like you feel what the characters are feeling. It provides insight on a plethora of events.
4. Percy and The Olympians by Rick Riordan
1. The Lightening Thief
2. The Sea of Monsters
3. The Titan’s Curse
4. The Battle of the Labyrinth
5. The Last Olympian
- This series has taught me more than I anticipated it to. I learned a great deal on Greek Mythology and trying to keep up with the Greek Gods. The adventures and obstacles that Percy and his friends undergo exemplify courage, loyalty and trust.
5. Sweet Little Lies by Lauren Conrad ( Sequel to L.A. Candy)
- In this book it all about how Madison (backstabbing friend/ foe) and how her “picture perfect lie and life” are going to be uncovered soon. So, Jane who is one of the main stars on the L.A. Candy show along with Madison, who is jealous of Jane’s fame, confided in Madison to take her away from the scandal that was provoked from the previous book. There were provocative pictures with Braden, Jesse’s best friend and Jane’s Boyfriend made a huge outrage that changed Jane and everyone’s life and the L.A. Candy Crew members as well. I can not wait until the next book comes out. =D This book has taught me that there are people in your life who are your friend foe. So as the saying goes, “Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.”
6. I am an Emotional Creature: The Secret Life of Girls Around the World by Eve Ensler
- Written by the Eve Ensler who also wrote the Vagina Monologues. I believe it is a great way for young women, women and men to read this book. It will induce you to view life and your rights with a different perspective. Moreover, one can say that being a woman is not always easy but standing up for what you believe in alone is harder yet courageous.
7. Knit the Season by Kate Jacobs ( Continuation of Knit Two)
- Also by Kate Jacobs that I read in 2009:
- The Friday Knitting Club
- Knit Two ( Continuation on The Friday Knitting Club)
- Jacobs also has another book called Comfort Food I have not yet read it. It is on my to-read list.
- Everyone thinks that reading this book is about Knitting Patterns and Perhaps Old Ladies talking about their grand children. However, this book is much more than that. I have been reading this mini series. I have learned a myriad from this book series. First, that you can find friendships in unexpected places such as a knitting shop. It has also taught me about love, decision making, obstacles and how to strive for success even when there are limited resources. In addition, it has educated me about life values, support systems come from your family and friends. Finally, it has taught me that distance should not deteriorate a friendship it should only make it stronger.
