The Year of the Tiger

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!!!!! This year 2010 is The Year of the Tiger in the Chinese culture.

Conceivably, some of you may not be familiar with the Chinese Zodiac or how each year is represented by an animal instead of an astrological constellation like it is in the United States of America ( among other countries).

The Chinese Zodiac it's pretty simple. Each year represents and animal. So if you are born in 2010 then your Chinese Zodiac is Tiger. Unlike, the USA(among other countries) astrological signs where you are classified by the date you were born not the year. For example, if I was born February 14th, 2010. In the USA(among other countries) culture I am considered an Aquarius because of my birth date. In the Chinese culture I am considered a Tiger because I was born in the 2010 year. (I hope I was able to clarify any confusion.)

I forgot to mention that Chinese follow the Lunar Calendar unlike the USA (among other countries) follow the Sun Calendar.

Just like the 12 astrological signs: There are 12 Chinese Animals

The Animals are:

Rat
Ox
Tiger- Year 2010
Rabbit
Dragon
Snake
Horse
Sheep
Monkey
Rooster
Dog
Pig

Let me not forget then it's broken down into 5 different Chinese Elements:
Metal, Water, Wood, Fire and Earth

So now if I was born on Feb. 14th, 2010.

I will be considered a Metal Tiger.

So the year of the Tiger is supposed to keep away three tragedies away from the home which are fire, thieve and ghost.
